Davy Macs in Waterford have launched an exclusive Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin Garden to mark their national win for best Gin and Tonic in Ireland.
The new garden, unveiled at an exclusive celebratory event, portrays Ireland’s favourite gin and the 12 individual botanicals from its recipe. It is a celebration of the collaboration between Davy Macs and Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, which is slow-distilled by hand with oriental botanicals and gunpowder tea.
Davy Macs hit the headlines following last June’s national Gin and Tonic Fest when their Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin and tonic creation was voted the best in Ireland.
Guests at the unveiling celebrations included legendary Waterford hurler Ken McGrath and Waterford Rose Chloe McGrath.
A team from The Shed Distillery, including Eoin O'Neill, Sean Macgabhann, Declan Ryan and Lisa Deveney, travelled to Waterford to join the Davy Macs team in hosting an unforgettable night. Customers of Davy Macs were treated to an evening of exclusive serves with Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin. The star of the show was ‘Ireland’s Best G&T’, featuring Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin and Elderflower Fever Tree tonic, which has been the highlight of the Davy Macs’ drinks menu ever since the big win.
Guests also enjoyed a special Gin Masterclass hosted by The Shed Distillery and heard the story of the Curious Mind of PJ Rigney, the creator of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin. The Shed Distillery is the first distillery in Connacht in 101 years and Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin is Connacht’s first-ever gin.
Davy Macs, described as Waterford’s ‘newest oldest bar’, opened during Christmas 2015 and already employs 30 staff.
